It is one of the most famous quotes of Late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. He was one of the former Presidents of India. Dr. Abdul Kalam was loved and respected by everyone. He was a very sincere person. He is mostly known as the Missile Man of India and the People’s President.


Early Life:

The full name of APJ Abdul Kalam was Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam. He was born on 15th of October in 1931 at Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu. The name of his Father was Jainulabudeen and mother was Ashiamma. He was born to a poor Muslim Tamil Family.

Dr Kalam went through a lot of financial struggles during his childhood but he never gave up on his studies. He completed his graduation in 1954 from Saint Joseph’s College, Tiruchirappalli and aerospace engineering from Madras Institute of Technology. He became an engineer and a notable scientist.


Work Life:

After his graduation, he joined Aeronautical Development Establishment of Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) as a chief scientist however; soon he shifted to the Indian Space Research Organization as a project director of India’s first indigenous Satellite Launch Vehicle. He also worked as a Chief Executive of Integrated Guided Missile Development Program which involved in simultaneous development of a quiver of missiles.

Dr Kalam was the Chief Project Coordinator for Pokhran II nuclear tests. After the successful completion of the nuclear tests, he came to be known as the Missile Man of India. Many other projects were headed by him such as launch of the Rohini-1, Project Devil and Project Valiant, developing missiles under missions Agni and Prithvi etc. He was a renowned scientist and a humble teacher. He wanted to be popular as a good teacher.

Dr. Kalam also served as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007. Earlier he worked as the scientific advisor for the Government of India. He took various nuclear decisions which helped to strengthen the defense mechanism of India.


Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam  has been honored with the highest civilian awards for his dedicated works. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna. He was the third President of India who was awarded with the Bharat Ratna. After completing his tenure as a President, he served the country as a visiting professor at various valued institutes and universities such as IIM, IIT etc.

He has been awarded with the awards like Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, Bharat Ratna, Indira Gandhi Award, Veer Savarkar Award, Ramanujan Award and many more. Not only awards, he was rewarded with the love of the millions of citizens of India. He was a very down to earth man with sheer intelligence and brilliance. He used to love children and always asked them to dream and achieve it.

Many books were also written by him. Some of his prominent books were  “India 2020”, “Ignited Minds”, “Mission India”, “The Luminous Sparks” and “Inspiring Thoughts”. He also launched a mission for youths named “What Can I Give Movement” in order to remove corruption from the country. He tried every measure to develop the nation.



He died on 27th of July in 2015 in Shillong, Meghalaya. He was invited to the Indian Institute of Management in Shillong to deliver a lecture to the students. While talking to the students he collapsed. He was declared to have died of Cardiac arrest. Dr. APJ Abdul kalam always wanted to be remembered as a good teacher. He even died giving lecture to students. The whole nation mourned at the death of such a great human being.
